when stuck on the service monitor it shows 19w out on vhf. it does not meet part 97 specs for harmonics. it needs to be 40db below the fundamental and its only 36db below.the issue with the volume is from people not reading the manual. hit the red button once to go into monitor and then the up down buttons control the volume. you can press and hold to move it up and down quickly. you do not need to go into the menus to change the volume.press and hold the red to turn off and onthis radio is fully supported by chirp and chirp allows for 7 characters in the name with no issues on the radio rebooting. I suspect that was faulty factory cps."The data hole" which is what the cover is labeled for the data/spk ports is the funniest thing ive seen this week and it should be the name of a star trek cosplay bar and grill.compact little rig . perfect for small space. Installing in my Honda civic . Volume control according to other sources confusing at first..Easy program with chirp .Not a big repeater guy as its mostly cber types. Mostly have always just had one for listening and local pd. So I purchased this on a whim and to burn a gift card. The radio seems to be okay for what it is. I programmed the local repeaters in it and installed it in my car which took all of 2 screws and 5 minutes! I use a 5/8th wave so that helps a bit for just running 25 watts. I noticed a bit of intermod in the city however for the most part the receiver seems to do okay. I am sure its not up to specs with say an Icom. I liked the idea of having a small foot print and all in one microphone/screen. TX seems to be okay I hit most repeaters I am in range of and have not heard any complaints on FM audio. The one stick in the eye is all the push buttons to toggle different things mostly touch up squelch or volume its a bit of a pain in the rear. But, if you can look past that its not bad for a bit over 100 bucks for a 2 band fm mobile.PC tools are tricky to install on Win10. I reached out to the manufacturer via their website and have not received a response in several weeks. I was able to program the unit via PC and there are some options that do not program via the PC even though there is a setting in the PC program. I was able to manually set them however. I was going to return it but it seems nice and I was finally able to program it with the PC.I like it just don’t like the volume control I have to go in through functions to adjust volumeThe thing is really small and that's why I bought it.So far it seems to work well enough. The programming software needs further refinement but it is usable at the present time and getsthe job done. It needs a help file to explain what some of the settings are for.The output isnt quite up to specks and the supplied programming software just sucks! I AM WAITING FOR CHIRP TO ADD THIS ONE TO THEIR LIST OF RADIOS THAT THEY SUPPORT!Okay, first of all, I am a Ham Radio Operator and a fan of all things electronic since I was 7 years old. As an older guy I need something to take in the car and not cause too many distractions. When I saw that this radio here had the readout in the mike I was sold. And now that i have it set up I want others to know that it puts out the watts, the heat sinks work and i can listen while i drive; if I want to talk I can find a spot to land and do that too. From one Ham to another, I know you'll like it and no I am not being paid to say so. This is just me being me. 73!
