This is an initial review of the D-901 only having received the radio yesterday. I really like the larger size unit (many at this price-point are pocket size) with a top carry handle, as it reminds me of a larger portable Zenith SW radio I used to have years ago. And the larger box allows for a bigger speaker, which has very good/clear sound quality (granted, still not much bass, but certainly adequate for SW radio listening, which is mainly why I got it). Overall, I’m really impressed with the feel of the radio, it’s numerous functions and its workmanship.PROS:I appreciated the rechargeable 2000 mAh battery included. It was already charged to some degree and therefore the radio played right out of the box. It charges with a USB C connection and shows a small red light indicating charge, which goes out when the battery is full. (no other battery level indicator that I see) If you don’t install optional D cell batteries (BTW the produce description erroneously says AA batteries), the battery compartment is also a nice place to store headphones, cables, etc.The shortwave function is nice and since it is split to nine ranges, stations can be tuned pretty well. Right out of the box last night, I picked up a lot of foreign broadcasts including a Chinese/English propaganda station (we’re in Arizona). Even though it is an analog radio, it has DSP (digital signal processing). The DSP chip was a little annoying to tune with as it jumped on frequencies bit, but it locked on signals fairly well with only a little drifting.The side LED flashlight is VERY bright and is a nice addition.Controls are very straightforward and simple to operate. This includes the radio band controls, the tuning and volume knobs, and the Bluetooth/MP3 controls on top.The Bluetooth paired easily with my phone and had a red LED word display on the top of the front panel to help connect, along with audible pairing confirmations.The headphone jack worked as expected.The telescoping antennae worked well and snapped into place when not in use.An external antennae mini-jack port is included (haven’t use this yet, but have an external antenna ordered), which doubles as an external sound jack.There is a port for a SD card (called a “TF card socket” on the radio info), but I haven’t used it.A USB port, which I also didn’t use.A USB to C cable is included – for charging or input, as well as a mini-jack (3.5mm) to mini-jack cable.A small two-sided paper card serves as the user manual – information is a little limited, but basically clear enough.CONS:The volume control cuts out completely when turned down, before what I would consider a normal lowest volume and is basically dead the last 10% of the turn, instead of the sound fading out gradually. (I may ask for a replacement unit because of this)It does not have a backlit frequency display.No rubber feet on the bottom (think I’ll add that myself).This last one is perhaps not a CON, but I will note it: I’m not sure why it has two FM bands as they are basically a duplicate – the FM1 band goes from 86 – 108 MHz and the FM2 band goes from 64-108 MHz. I did read that the old Soviet Union and some former eastern block countries may still use the 65-74 MHz band, which the FM2 band covers, but it still seems like a duplicate for my purposes . . . interesting . . . guess they’re trying to cover all bases.CONCLUSION – After doing this write-up and playing around with the radio, it is quite the little unit for the money. It’s not a high-end radio by any means, but what they’ve done under the thirty dollar price is impressive. In fact, I’ve talked myself into a 5 star rating for this surprisingly feature packed and well done unit -->  essentially I’m pleased as punch! (wonder how that phrase would translate . . .)UPDATE: I did ask for a return due to the volume not fading gradually at the bottom end, and they promptly sent me another unit. However, this newer one has the same issue. It's not a huge problem and I would only knock 1/4 star off for this, as the volume goes pretty low before it just cuts out. If I'm really careful adjusting the volume I can get it pretty low, but it's not smooth. Other than that minor thing, certainly a great little multiband radio!!!@TCGLittle bit a bulky radio. Although the speaker is big, the sound quality is not that good. It is a little difficult to tune the frequency because the tuning knob is small compared to its whole size. It is great that the 18650 battery is removable, it will come in handy on travels. But both battery slots is a little deep, it is necessary to use a magnet button attachment for rechargeable D and 18650 batteries. It turns off after 5 minut of bluetooth disconnectivityReplacement radio works great but did not come with cord for electricity connection.Pro: aux cord compatible, USB C charging, a great battery, and SD card input make this a very versatile radio.Cons: Volume is super fiddely when trying to adjust for a quiter setting. There is very little movement on the volume knob between muted and medium volume and then there is a huge amount of movement between mediums and high volume. Also the station list is a sticker that can easily peel off, I had to replace my radio originally because the station list peeled off and I expect it will happen again in the future. This is unfortunate because there is no digital display to show your station.Considering the low cost of this radio, it is a true bargain. Nothing in the usual local electronics stores at a similar price could match it. I've been using it for several days to check out the features. Bluetooth works well...micro sd card works well...usb stick works well. I thought a torch in a radio is a gimmick. However, the torch is actually decent and would come in handy if camping, travelling etc. The radio features FM, AM and SW. Sensitivity is good on all, though SW would benefit from an external aerial. For the radio size and cost, I would consider the sound decent. Certainly not tinny like a small pocket radio. If there was a con it would be the tuning. This is a DSP (digital) radio with analogue (old fashioned) tuning knob. With an analogue radio, as you turn the tuning knob you will 'gradually' tune in and out of stations (fade in and out). With DSP as you are getting close to a station there is no gradual tuning in to the station...it will jump straight to the station when it get close. You may also pick up the same station more than once close together and at different volume levels. Rotate the tuning knob just a fraction and jump to the same station perhaps at lower volume...so back we go to get the best one. Hope this makes sense. In any case, I only listen to one or two main stations, so not a problem for me personally. If you believe this would not worry you unduly, I highly recommend the radio. Forgot to mention the power sources. The radio comes with an excellent rechargeable 18650 battery but can also be powered with two D cell batteries. Note:- Make sure to read instructions re charging 18650 battery (don't leave D cells in).En general es un buen producto para lo que cuesta, sin embargo obviamente hay que esperar acabados premium en este dispositivo. La bocina se escucha fuerte, ideal para usarla en exteriores. Puede ser una buena radio para principiantes si te interesa escuchar las estaciones de onda corta (lo cual necesita una antena externa como la Sangean ANT-60 o la MLA-30+). Easy to set up the Bluetooth to stream music or radio broadcasts for AM station apps (as some AM stations in my area are not the best). Connected my old IPOD Nano into the USB and started playing music. Decent volume. Very bright flashlight. Great value for money!
