I have three (3) of these radios. I've encountered some of the issues mentioned in the reviews such as the "password" issue, NOAA channels, and the pre-programmed CTCSS / DCS codes in the radios.All of these can easily be resolved by contacting Retevis Support. These folks are incredible and will be there for you, the customer, until the issue is resolved.I can attest to the fact that they were there for me as ALL issues were resolved and I'm Very Happy with the product!Be patient as there is a time difference with the support folks, however, they will reply easily within 24 hours and usually with a resolution to your issue.Take my advice! Don't be a cheap skate. Order a TRUE FTDI programming cable and the firmware upgrades and programming the radio will be a breeze. This one time purchase will be a Huge benefit especially if you decide to pursue your HAM license or purchase other GMRS type radios!Also, RTFM more than once. Understand what can be programmed via the keypad and from the programming software. Also, Retevis has a YouTube site with good information. Google can also help with programming and testing the radio. Do your research and don't give up so easily!Now, you can also go to the FCC website and download all of the "Test" data on this particular radio using the FCC ID code that is on the radio.I've tested the RT76P on my inexpensive RF Power meter and can get a constant 5.X Watt output into my MFJ-260C dummy load. I've tested this radio, while driving in the city that I live in. I can get a good solid 1.2 mile RX and TX with the stock antenna. Keep in mind, this is in a moving vehicle with obstructions such as buildings, houses, and trees.Connecting the RT76P to an external mobile antenna, tuned for GMRS or dual band frequencies, while in the car, can also help with reception and a slight gain in TX.I expect at least twice that distance while outdoors with minimal obstructions using the stock antennas. Also, the antennas are removeable. So, they can be upgraded.So, bottom line, is the Retevis RT76P worth approximately $32.50/each (two pack)? Yes, absolutely! The Retevis support is Outstanding, the range is good, and the product is very rugged!Out!
