Description

This is a study guide to help you pass the FCC test for the General Class Amateur (Ham) Radio license. Even if you have very little background in radio or electronics, you will be able to pass the test by using this guide. (This book assumes that you have already passed the test for the entry level Technician license. If you haven't, there is a separate "Plain English" guide for that exam.)All of the concepts are explained in the most basic terms, and each section of the book is followed by the actual questions you will see on the test. When you are finished with this book, you will be able to pass the test! This edition contains the new questions in effect as of July 1, 2023. These questions will be in use until 2027.

This is the only book I bought for the General. I took the Technician and General on the same day and got 100% right on both exams . Clem's book is quite good and having a portable Kindle text is very handy. I also used the free version of Dan Romanchik's "No-Nonsense, General Class License Study Guide." (I liked it so much that I bought his Extra Class guide.) Along with the ARRL test question bucket, I used the NCVEC test bucket, the free "General Class Question Pool 2011-2015Study Notes Produced by KH6IR," the free Amateur Radio General License Class Syllabus" by Jack Tiley/AD7FO and an Android app called "Ham Test Prep" for drill. Clem's was my primary text, supplemented by the other books when necessary. Each resource had its strengths and weaknesses. Clem was much less verbose than the ARRL General Class book, but also less complete. When I needed more than Clem provided, I found it in the other books or via Internet search.I'd recommend Clem's book as an inexpensive way to learn the General Class Material, supplementing as required with free resources. Cheaper than Gordon West's book or the ARRL book, and much less time-consuming than ARRL.
